Don't forget that democrats were fighting the Civil Rights Act. Republicans with some bipartisan help from democrats delivered it to LBJ to sign.

What was it he said?

This'll keep n... voting democrat for a century.

Or something like that.

Your opinion was expressed as a generality...

So you're a mind reader, too.

If I meant such a generality, then all Americans in the mid eighteen sixties would have been losers, not just Lincoln, because the entire nation was engaged in civil war.

A more apt exercise in mind reading would be that instigating a civil war here and now is for losers. Suppressing an insurgency would not be. Nor would instigating one in some other place or time necessarily be. Many revolutions have been successful. Such an obviously invalid generalization would be way beneath "the smartest person in the room."

There is no country in the world that could win a war against the US so ordinary citizens would have to be a total idiot--losers--to take up arms against the US.

...and your statement inferred that you feel civil war is for losers

My statement inferred no such thing. Statements can't, by definition, "infer" anything. What you mistakenly inferred from my statement is more a function of your perceptions than of my words.
