I don't doubt that Dell has a real edge over his competitors in adapting to the marketplace demands, delivering product efficiently and at low cost.

What I doubt is that demand will keep rising at the rate it has been. I imagine current quarter numbers will be pretty good. Lots of momentum. But in a slowing environment, it will be hard to maintain the pace. Still strong growth for Dell, better than others. But Dell's multiple depends upon blow out performance. It is a fragile multiple. The stock price until recently has not been at all fragile because of a strong belief that Dell can do it. Well, I believe if anyone can, he can. But....

First time Dell even slightly disappoints, or significantly signals lower expectations going forward, look out below. I think near term there is at least as much chance of loosing 15 more points as there is of gaining them back. But hey, I could be wrong. Just playing what seem to me to be the odds.

Regards, Doug

Dell is going to be a leaner and meaner company by doing this. They have vision and understand what the internet and E commerce is going to be like in the future. And best of all the internet is global. "We are building infrastructure to support ten
times the volume we have today," said Dell . Thats what? From 3 million to 30 million dollars a day in sales on the net. Not to shabby!
