Because according to the IAEA, the international agency tasked with guaranteeing that those countries which have signed the NPT only pursue PEACEFUL nuclear power (which Iran has EVERY RIGHT to possess), Iran is NOT in compliance:
Hmm, under the watchful eyes of IAEA???? The IAEA has unfeathered access to all nuclear facilities. Alternatively, Iran can give everyone the one finger salute and withdraw from the NPT. Now I am afraid. I rather have the IAEA inspecting Iran movements than being totally in the dark.
The UNSC calls on Iran to stop enrichment. However, Iran is within its right to enrich for peaceful purpose. Thus the UNSC is being a bully headed by none other than us. (We really should work on helping people to trust us) Here is all you need to know about Iran's nuclear. news.bbc.co.uk
Iran is in compliance with NPT and Iran is defying the UNSC. Than again, I doubt that Russia and/or China will allow anyone to touch Iran.

As for attacking Iran, I would love to see the opposition overthrow the current thugs in power there, comply with the NPT and develop PEACEFUL Nuclear energy, if they so desire.
Now matter how you twisted, Iran is in compliance with the NPT.

I'd rather that neither the US, nor Israel, be required to take military actions.
I believe nobody will. We are too spent to do anything and Israel knows it will seal its fate if it does anything.

And btw, Israel did not sign the NPT, so don't attempt to use that argument.
LOL, I didn't and I wasn't. Since you brought it up, here is a crack at it. Since you consider Israel as model country for the world to live by, why doesn't it be part of the NPT like us? Don't we want our best friend to live by the same standards as us?
On 18 September 2009, the IAEA called on Israel to join the NPT and open its nuclear facilities to inspection. The resolution said that the IAEA "Expresses concern about the Israeli nuclear capabilities, and calls upon Israel to accede to the NPT and place all its nuclear facilities under comprehensive IAEA safeguards... "

Israel refuses to join the NPT or allow inspections. It is reckoned to have up to 400 warheads but refuses to confirm or deny this.
