I believe Iceland gets a substantial amount of energy from Geothermal.

Yes, but Iceland, along with a few other areas in the world such as New Zealand, has natural geothermal and gets their energy without drilling through miles of bedrock, fracturing same, and pumping in water which causes the earthquakes like the site in CA.
