Interesting - the analogy to Intel/AMD is striking, although it sounds like what MON did was minor compared to the bad stuff Intel did (and ended up getting away with - in my view the $1 billion settlement they paid recently was trivial compared with the long-term advantage they got by preventing an AMD renaissance for the brief period that AMD technology was superior).

Of course the political (and populist) headwinds are going to be against MON here, so they will have to be careful.

Do they have any sort of patent cliff in their future? I've been meaning to do some work understanding them but haven't had time to do so yet.
