George, the answer is simple. The smaller figure (252,893 shares, close at 4.05) was inaccurate. By the way, my Quote.com quote cites this number, whereas Yahoo! and Canada Stockwatch cites the accurate figure. Perhaps a large block was crossed, which might have caused the discrepancy? A full-service broker might help to unravel this...if it was a large block then we might expect the stock to go up a bit on Monday...a large seller (Novell perhaps) would be possibly willing to give up a few cents to someone willing to buy the whole chunk.

As for the reason for the late selling I won't comment but given Novell's announcement it's not any surprise.
