And the message Dodd and Schumer broadcast to everyone in effect is, "We stand for great sweeping reforms unless enough lobbyists persuade us otherwise!" Maybe it's my general cynicism and disgust with the Dems' inability to get much done at all, but each one of these less than noble stories adds up to an ugly quilt. Not that the other side of the aisle was any different. They were happy to pocket the contributions and excel at their stated goal of doing nothing at all. Still seems to be their position on many key issues.
