If the big tent expands so far that all the players underneath it are going in 647 different directions, then there won't be a serious player in town at all. There will be gridlock and drift, like before.

Which, of course, is exactly what the Republicans want right now. It reminds me of Lehman and AIG leveraging themselves into oblivion. The various individual Democratic personalities are poisoning the brand name and the agenda for the whole, to a very toxic degree.

And the pipsqueaks at the top, Harry and Nancy, are incapable of changing that trend, it looks like.

<<< I notice that the House Reps, in their new role as a populist party, met with 100 lobbyists from the financial industry the other day. To "coordinate" message.>>>

House Reps are doing what they do. What else can you expect?

Obama is doing what he has to do.

I blame Axelrod and the political team. They did a great job getting Obama elected but they are not capable of going to the next level and that is to help Obama govern.

Obama understandably has loyalties and has to stick by his team, but he should look at the greater good. Obama has to get rid of this team and put together a new team.

These guys are going to lose substantially 2010 but they are living in this bubble.

They could and should stem this tide. I saw Obama doing this on 60 Minutes and on Oprah. Obama can not do all this by himself.
