Are they the dead ones or the several million now refugees in Jordan and Syria and even within their own country?

There are fewer dead Iraqis as a result of the war than would have died under Saddam.

As to refugees, most either have returned or don't plan to. And those who have come back have returned to a place that is more secure than pre-03 Iraq and a place that offers them a way of life they could never have had under the regime of Saddam. And most do appreciate it, although you won't get that from Michael Ware on CNN.

Oil was clearly part of this single worst foreign policy disaster in American history

a) America had an interest in seeing that Iraqi oil was available to the world markets. America never had any plan to "capture" the oil as you left wing nutcases suggested. But sure, we had to protect that supply in order to insure reasonable stability in the markets. Duh.

b) The Iraq War was executed poorly but strategically brilliant for a lot of reasons, none of which you would ever comprehend or acknowledge. As the US withdraws in accordance with the SOFA negotiated by Bush, this will become more evident to even those who are not knowledgeable such as yourself.

use Northern Iraq as an example of any success from this foreign policy disaster

There are some areas of N. Iraq that are more friendly than others. The area reference was Ninawa province, where Mosul is located.

But the broader argument is whether the general's statements hold up nationwide -- and they do.

You are an ignorant leftwing nutjob, so this is stuff you know nothing about. Listening to other people is a highly underrated way of getting information.
