If we follow the religion of environmentalism and it turns out to be false, nothing really bad happens (other than more government regulations which can be reversed once people get tired of it).

However, if we follow the environmentalist skeptics and they turn out to be wrong, the whole planet is in danger.

Therefore, Pascal's Wager would suggest following the religion of environmentalism.


I don't like your use of the word "religion" applied to this topic. The evidence of GW is overwhelming. The real issue is whether we can reverse it effectively and even a kool aid drinker like myself has doubts about that. The rest of what you said however is indeed true...it is not a universal byproduct for all problems that doing something about them comes with beneficial side effects, but in this case it happens to be true.
