The war in Iraq was screwed up, too. And honestly, had it not been for the uncompromising political courage of GWB it would have ended up just like Medicare -- another failed government effort.

GWB won the war in Iraq even after the current president and the liberal leadership in Congress said it was "lost" and that we should give up, surrender (which obviously would have been an utter catastrophe).

Unfortunately, this isn't possible with Medicare because even a courageous president like GWB hasn't the power (and shouldn't have the power) to do with Medicare what GWB did with Iraq.

GWB was a great president. Most people don't recognize that now, but in history, he'll be seen as one of the few really great presidents. It may take 100 years (it took John Adams 200 years to begin to get any real recognition for his greatness, all because of the Alien & Sedition bullshit). Unfortunately, you and I will no longer be posting on SI by that time.
