the notes would obviously be a great buy since you get interest on them and the par will increase relative to an increasing share price should all the rumors prove without merit.

Some people are just never satisfied. It's a good thing Shelby Davis didn't mention CYMI:

NEW YORK, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Applied Materials may be a good investment if it falls to $25 per share from its Friday close at $33.375, The New York Times quoted Shelby Davis, chief investment officer of Davis Selected Advisors, as saying.

In Sunday's edition, the newspaper said finding bargain stocks has seen tough for a few years, but the stock market's recent dips have given value investors hope.

The Times named several companies, including Applied Materials, considered by fund managers to be overpriced but otherwise solid investments.

Davis told The Times he like Applied Materials because demand for semiconductor equipment should grow 15 to 20 percent annually.
