My GGG(not sure how many greats)Grandfather clowned around a lot too. He is noted for writing one of the first books on fly fishing, among other things.

He blew a lot of Nitrous Oxide too. I think it made him sound like Donald Duck.

He liked to pal around with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, no doubt admiring "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" while flirting with Mary Shelley.

Somebody wrote a poem about him, which is the first clerihew in history:

The first ever clerihew was written about Sir Humphry Davy:

Sir Humphry Davy
Was not fond of gravy.
He lived in the odium
Of having discovered sodium.[4]
