Alan said "unsweetened chili" but he meant unsweetened chocolate. And you will not enjoy eating it, it's very bitter, which is why it's OK in chili, as it blends well with the other savory ingredients. Even the darkest eating chocolate has sugar in it, but unsweetened has none.

Here are some links to unsweetened chocolate, you find it in the baking section, not the candy aisle. You can substitute unsweetened cocoa powder, it's the same thing without the cocoa butter.

I suppose you could substitute bittersweet chocolate, if you don't mind the sweetness it adds.

Here is a bit of chocolate trivia that I was unaware of until about a year ago. German chocolate cake has ZERO to do with Germany, as one might deduce from a cake covered in coconut/chocolate frosting. Instead, the recipe came from the makers of German brand chocolate.

It's baking chocolate. At our store it is in the section with flour and sugar, etc.

slim box with bars marked into rectangles which each weigh... and ounce, I think.

It is used in chocolate pies and many cookies, then you add the sweet with sugar.

get some and melt a square (rectangle) and taste. ewww. chocolate with no sweet taste at all!
