Industrialized nations must recognize their responsibility for the environmental crisis, shed their consumerism and embrace more sober lifestyles, Pope Benedict said on Tuesday.

The Pope had better be prepared to take care of ALL the people of ALL the countries who are predominately Roman Catholic, and stop relying on the US to do the bulk if the donating to the "poor"....

Maybe he should ask himself how this country and the taxpayers who live here have contributed so much in way of clothing, medicines, and food to all of those Roman Catholic countries, and if all of that has cost energy to manufacturer....

What if all of that TOTALLY stops? Maybe he, and the rest of the world will be willing to finally take up their share of the load, for a change.

Rich nations must assume environmental duties: pope

By Philip Pullella

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Industrialized nations must recognize their responsibility for the environmental crisis, shed their consumerism and embrace more sober lifestyles, Pope Benedict said on Tuesday.

He didn't say rich, he said industrialized. The vatican is probably one of the richest, yet least industrialized, nations out there.
