That said, I'm sure ASND mgmt has made, to COMS, precisely the
points you are now making, albeit in the context of attempting to
maximize ASND's going price.

Why are you sure of this?

Sector,

I will have to watch myself. I was trying to compliment you, but I guess I got it thrown back in my face. A seller (ASND) would use just your points in trying to convince a buyer (COMS) why that buyer needed the seller. I did not sit in on the meetings, so I can't give you a transcript or anything.

I still think LU is in the running for ASND in mid-late 1998.

I don't. ASND will be gone by then.

>>>No, Gary, I fully agree with them. COMS DOES need ASND.
But ASND does not need them.<<<

Not to be successful in the RAS market, that's true. But unless they want to remain a second banana to CSCO for the foreseeable future, they must become an end-to-end equipment provider. It seems apparent to me that this is what ASND is aiming to be after aquiring CSCC which broadened its product line significantly into other markets. As part of a networker such as COMS, in my view, they would create a networking solution that actually goes beyond CSCO, since USRX dominates market segments where CSCO has no presence. I don't believe companies such as COMS and ASND are satisfied with just being #2 or #3...they are striving to be #1, and nothing less. And together they would be on more than equal footing with CSCO, in my opinion. I'd love to see it happen.
