Also winter you can really get some extended ugliness but I find barreness beautiful. I love the sight of west Texas. and if you've ever lived in a southern holler where the hill is right in front and behind you and you think you will go crazy in summer from the omnipent green and thickness of it all... when the leaves finally fall, and you see the hillside and the rocks and the top of the hill... it is like being freed. and of course, the barren and 'ugly' just makes spring all that more spectacular. a reason for everything?
