I'm the one holding Diogenes Lamp. That is a fine thing. And you are not upsetting any cart. you pointed out a difficulty. but what of the past.. in a prior age just decades ago? would those refuges be here? would there be someone like you talking with a neighbor about it? and you don't need to bring on refuges, just look at home. when I lived on the streets of the Tenderloin in SF, I worked at a pub there that a friend opened. now when he opened it, the place had been closed for months due to murders. ahem... so during that time, a 'gang' had started using the doorway as their place of business. now, my boss, bless his heart, was all agog at that. He wanted to call the po-lice and blahblah. I suggested we negotiate with them. they were, afterall, simply selling pot. no no no, drug dealers. I rolled my eyes. he had chosen his neighborhood, these were our neighbors, yes? well, he said I could 'try it'. it really was quite simple. we discussed it, me and the 'gang', and they moved their business 20 or so yards down the block, plus the 'big dog', called Big Mike, was given a pass to come to the pub. he actually didn't want his boys in there, as he decided it was where he would go to relax away from 'work'. he couldn't carry, his boys not allowed in. that was the rules. worked quite well. yes, Less... people come from different places and situations and learn and we learn with each other. listen to how people not from the South speak of southern whites? now, I know you know how they talk of them, even though they don't know them. oh no... we all bigots down here, and ain't no bigots outside of here. no sirree. smile. you think talking to someone from Somalia is a big deal? go to Market and 6th in San Francisco. a tad less violent, but the overlay is not so different. we learn every day.
