Marcos, plants also use toxins and various other chemical and biological weapons to destroy other flora and fauna.

Not much grows underneath a pine tree.

Neurotoxins are excellent self-defence weapons for plants - intoxicated animals are easy dinners for predators.

Now that we have consensus on Jews, Arabs, Israel, we can move on to use that settled science to sort out other disputes. Iran is nearing explosion time. An atomic bomb going off in the Middle East could lead to quite a Bust in the stock markets not to mention oil markets.

OT - Gorgeous, stupendously beautiful winter day here. Light snowfall tapering off, trees magically coated, bright sunlight peeking thru gaps in the clouds. A huge swarm of Bohemian waxwings just passed thru working the neighboring chokecherry trees, with a lone Steller's jay scolding them from one of my birches. Time to break out the snowshoes and go for a jaunt!
