Funny you would mention that. Just this morning I pulled one of the four bottles of beer out of my fridge. I just wanted to check the date. It was "born" on April 9, 2009. I didn't realize it was that old.

I'm not sure I know how to drink beer in this cold weather. Are you sure I won't hurt something?

"Beer is for every day!"

Here is a recipe I like this time of year. Pairs well with chili too.

Take one of these, preferably not too cold,

pop off the cap, pour into a favorite (non-chilled) glass.

Serves: less than 1 (best to buy a case at Costco!)
Difficulty: Easy
Rating: * * * * *

Brewery tasting notes:

The long, cold nights of winter are a little brighter with Celebration® Ale. Wonderfully robust and rich, Celebration Ale is dry-hopped for a lively, intense aroma. Brewed especially for the holidays, it is perfect for a festive gathering or for a quiet evening at home.

With an ale as big as Celebration, you need a dish assertive enough to hold its own. Rich meats such as prime rib, lamb, or wild fowl underscore Celebration’s huge aroma, making a wonderful holiday meal. Intense, earthy pastas also work well—try goat cheese ravioli, a rich fettuccine, or gnocchi with Gorgonzola cheese sauce.

My own tasting notes:

I you like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, you will love this one. It's essentially the Pale Ale on steroids, a big robust beer for the winter. Not for those who prefer hefeweizen or blonde beers.
