LeRoy,

IBM / Lotus have a big announcement for Monday 3 Nov.ÿ Could Jot (Sideware)
be in on it ?ÿ Anyone have any further info ?

NEW YORK, Oct 31 (Reuters) - International Business Machines Corp's (IBM)
Lotus Development unit said it will introduce on Monday a set of
applications and software tools based on Sun Microsystems Inc's (SUNW) Java
programming language.

The new products, developed under the code-name ''Kona,'' will be publicly
unveiled at a press briefing on Monday hosted by Lotus president Jeff
Papows at New York's Millennium Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

Lotus has been tight-lipped about details of the release and has kept to
itself even the name of the new software line.

Industry sources said the package will be named ''e-Suite WorkPlace,'' and
place the same emphasis on electronic commerce IBM has recently employed in
marketing hardware and software.

In August, the company launched the latest version of its AS/400
minicomputer line, which it dubbed the AS/400e, using the ''e'' to refer to
electronic commerce.

The company also recently released a new version of its DB2 database
software that allows companies to link corporate information to the World
Wide Web.

In a program announcement for the launch, Lotus said its presentation will
emphasize network solutions, including ways to quickly build business
applications for the Internet as well as corporate networks.
