>>PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov 2 (Reuters) - Diamond Multimedia
Systems plans to unveil on Monday a proprietary technology it
says can double the speed of current analog Internet links by
using two standard phone lines at once.<<

Its called multi link.. You do it with ISDN to get 128k or with 1isdn and i modem to get 64+33.3k.. With NT you can hook up 10+ modems to get higher bandwith as well..

and BTW USRX already did this a while ago hooking up 2 56 modems to create a single link.

<<For instance, a potentially confusing issue for customers interested
in using the Shotgun technology is that users need to be connected
with an Internet service provider who uses Ascend equipment, analysts
said.>>

Aw, shucks! I guess more ISPs will just have to buy ASND equipment
to use this. A nice little competitive advantage for both ISPs and
ASND. This isn't confusing at all to ASND investors!
