One thing that will help Spain recover faster than Ireland - it is sunny there, they have beaches too.

While the last vacation property boom has come and gone, there may be another, smaller boomlet as Spain and Portugal still have attractive weather, reasonable costs, and an easy to get to locations.

More and more high speed trains are being built. The effects of the Denmark-Sweden fixed link, heck even the Channel tunnel, continue to increase.

The trains in Spain go mainly on the plains -

Even without new vacation houses being built, vacationers will come and spend money.

So as the rest of Europe recovers, Spain won't be too far behind.
