Hi Tom.

>>how is the market treating you??<<

About as well as I deserve, given the circumstances, I guess.

>>As a value investor, is there anything that you like??<<

Not yet. (Watch this space for further developments :)

>>I was told that on Monday, during the sell-off people were dumping stocks at any price that they could get<<

I think that the circuit breakers added impetus to the sell-off rather than slowed in down, and will eventually prove a grave mistake.

>>on Tuesday, the very same people were buying stocks at higher prices<<

I noticed that. Made a few quick flips and then decided I was just engaging in 100% unadulterated speculation so I stopped. Your decision to go for a hike was the wisest one, IMO.

>>Also heard the anecdotal stuff about borrowing on credit cards to buy stocks and all that.<<

If that is true of Schwab 500 investors, then we may be in deeper trouble than I think! However, reading the threads this week (not this one in particular), I noticed more than one hypothetical magically transform into "established fact." Thus, I have a great deal of skepticism about what I have heard, and read, this week.

I have read your posts on the market in recent days and cannot help but nod in agreement.

Being the incredibly poor market timer that I am, we can reliably assume the opposite of what I think, and the DJIA will hit 10,000 in the next week :) Regards, Randy
