This administration has done VERY LITTLE, if anything about the danger of Credit Default Swaps, which act as unregulated "insurance products". CDS's are extremely susceptible to financial manipulation where people taking out insurance against a financial product actually have a vested interest in committing "arson" by destroying (naked shorting) the instrument they are insuring against.

Absolutely true.....the derivitives market and its complete lack of regulation caused this mess and what's so alarming to me is that nothing is been done by this admin to change that. In fact Obama has surrounded himself with the same incompetent blood sucking "free-market" hacks that caused this mess to begin with. An absolute disgrace that everyone should be aware of but unfortunately no-one seems to care. The complacency amongst the public on these financial issues is exactly what causes these catastrophes and even this latest collapse hasn't changed that......what a f***ing sad state of affairs. We're in for more of the same or even worse in the years to come....

Did you see the recent Frontline show on Brooksley Born and her warnings when she was head of the CTFC during the Clinton admin??

pbs.org

A must see show.....if only to convince some people around here that Frontline is NOT a partisan propaganda machine. Its simply the best show on TV. Greed has no party lines.....only the shills who fall for the BS fall for that.

Hey, I agree with you. The banks took us for a ride. And yes the system is not fixed and will not be fixed as long as the politicians are of the take.

Well.. I don't see you providing any solutions. All you ever do is complain and point at false causalities as your "boogie men"..
I presented my solution. Stop every frigging war that we are involved in, stop bleeding the taxpayers. If you won't accept that as a first step solution, then, it is your problem not my. As for presenting boogiemen, I learned it from you master. ;)
Seriously, where is your threshold of pain before you realize things need to saved at home before saving the world?

No.. I mean destroying/neutralizing a avowed enemy where ever they may be located SO THEY NEVER GET THE CHANCE to bring the war to our country.</i.
That means going on the offensive, right? Creating more enemies along the way, right?

And we keep using that "big stick" until they recognize that it's time for an "attitude adjustment".
Guess what? Our stick is being rendered useless. I afraid, that we need an "attitude adjustment".
