Apparently, they just thought insurgents would be too dumb to intercept the video! Just another example of American arrogance and underestimating adversaries biting us in the ass. It seems like encrypting and decrypting with the ability to change the scheme when needed would have been a very low cost no-brainer.

Given the history of the US military over the past ten years, you've go to wonder exactly how competent are they.
