I'm one of those that really needs the USPS. UPS is good when the roads are passable for them, and FedEx is a real coin toss whether they'll show up or not. But the USPS contract carrier is required to have a vehicle able to get through anytime.

For me, the post office is only about a 50 mile round trip, while UPS is about 120, and 180 for FedEx. For outgoing stuff, it really gripes me to have to pay a pickup fee with the commercial carriers; USPS has no pick up fee.

And, if you happen to do any business by mail, USPS has some teeth when it comes to mail fraud, the commercial carriers don't.

So, I hope USPS doesn't get driven out of business anytime soon.
