Ted, > If in 2-3 years after national revenue has come back, I don't see Obama reducing the deficit and balancing the budget, then he will lose my vote.

It's likely that Obama is going to reduce the deficit and balance the budget the old-fashioned way. Raise taxes on the "rich." When that doesn't get traction, Democrats will just blame Republicans. It's the same old thing all over again.

The tax cuts should have ended a long time ago. Its a given these days. And that means that taxes will not have to be raised but rather tax cuts allowed to expire.

"Democrats will just blame Republicans"

The current deficit IS due to (R)'s. It's indisputable.

You're just a whiner that doesn't want to pay taxes.

"When that doesn't get traction"

Now you are descending into fantasy.

Again.

There is no guarantee that it wouldn't get traction. Grant you, I know it is your fondest dream, but it isn't necessarily based in reality.

Raising taxes does work. Granted, it can be done too much and kill the economy. And, given time, lobbyists can manage to reduce their effectiveness. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work. Taxing the rich can have all kinds of benefits. The taxation of WWII helped fund the growth of the middle class and gave us a great deal of social stability. Which started to unravel as we cut the taxes, created more tax shelters etc. during the 1960s and the 1970s.
