if you cut everyone off from their money, then you have immense deflationary pressure as demand collapses and supply stays the same. a market halt would be worse - even less money to buy stuff, further reducing demand.

currencies are priced on a relative basis... if the US starts printing money and devaluing their currency, nothing will stop other nations from doing the same and keeping the relative relationship similar.

in the long run, all fiat currencies implode and there is not one, single exception.
