T,

I remember the mantra from public health officials used to be "raise your carb intake, lower your fat intake."

There is a new gem that has emerged from Harry Reid's closet. If you have follow any of the health news - even tangentially, it is hard to miss the flood of research establishing that Vitamin D helps fights of all kinds of diseases, including lowering risk of various cancers (better than any pharmaceuticals) and reduction of premature onset of one of the most troubling events - death.

With most Americans' level of vitamin D at alarmingly low levels (thanks to lack of time spent outdoors), especially in winter months, what does Dirty Harry do?

He introduces a 10% tax on indoor tanning, making this, perhaps the most crucial vitamin harder to obtain through natural means - by body manufacturing it in skins as result of contact with UVB light.

Nevermind that humans evolution over millions of years, perfected this process of body's manufacturing the crucial Vitamin D, that influences 100s of processes inside human body, activates, deactivates DNA, influences hormonal balance in human body - some intern yelled into Dirty Harry's closet: "Tanning - bad"
2nd intern inside the closet yells back: "Tax or ban?"
First intern yells back: "Tax"

This is what Obama administration and Democrat governance has degenerated to.
