China has oil, it was an oil exporter for many years.

There is a lot of China that has not been explored for oil with modern technology.

While I agree in general with your view that most of the easy stuff is gone, there is lots of easy coal in some parts of the world, and still easy oil in Iraq

The only climate treaty that really works, is the one that reduces the amount of coal, gas and oil that is fetched from the ground.

I agree with you that fluid fuel is needed, but it can be produced CO2-free.

However, it is dangerous to compare emerging markets with our own history. The western world has produced a lot of stuff that other countries really want, and that made us much rich. But now, we really want them to deliver on CO2 "services", and they're in a damn good negotation position.
