I'm sure she is above average in intelligence. You don't see many stupid politicians. At the very least, they are street smart, like Bush was. However, she is far from the best leader the GOP can muster. I get tired of the GOP masses defending her. I'm simply ashamed that Palin is the best the GOP can do. Why won't they back Romney? Is it because he's Mormon? Not Christian enough for the GOP? Romney is orders of magnitude more capable and intelligent than Palin. So why this obsession with Palin?

The fact of the matter is that the GOP thought they could come up with competition for Obama and Hillary in the form of Steele and Palin. Wow. That's like putting a high school football team against the Indianapolis Colts. The GOP can do better. Even in what remains of the GOP, there are still plenty of good, moderate, big tent leaders left. Not many, but just enough to rebuild from. The day you have people like Powell coming back to the party is when you know the party is opening back up and is set for a rebound.

Its been a long time since the GOP has looked for quality. This didn't just happen overnite. In the past 10 years, when you realize all the GOP leaders who have had to resign or been thrown in jail because of corruption or some other scandal, you realize how far the GOP has gone off the rails.

As for Romney, I am not impressed at all.........he seems like the politician's politician.......but I find it interesting how frequently he is cited as a good leader from the right. And this stuff won't get any better until the GOP admits it has a problem and starts setting up new rules. Jeb, Cantor etc tried this Spring but their venture fell flat on its face. Its too easy for the Rs to gravitate to the likes of Palin and Beck.
