I'd rather see a 100% gas tax, with the proceeds 100% given back to business to produce alternative to gas transportation and to consumers to purchase those alternative modes of transport. Plus, I'd like to see a hefty utility carbon emissions tax as well, with the proceeds given right back to those same companies, if they use it to invest in nuclear power, natural gas power, wind, solar, and other alternative means of producing electricity.

I am not in favor of a cap and trade system, nor am I in favor of using the proceeds from a gasoline or carbon tax for anything other than to give it back to businesses and consumers to invest in new renewable energy and alternative energy transportation.

If we do that, then we'll get all the benefits that Denmark got from doing exactly those things.
