A Neelie Kroes character by the look of it. Socialist Big Government fan club member. In her theory, more regulations and more money for government [and her] will make life better.

The markets seemed to work okay but the government as usual stole from some, gave to buddies, etc. For example GM bond holders were robbed.

I note that they have hired a dinkum Kiwi to save General Motors rather than a Brazilian or woman.

Those who dabbled in or got up to their necks in OTC derivatives have now learned that they had better make sure their counter parties and credit ratings are up to par.

Having the government also collect a piece of the action wouldn't solve the problem. But the government has a role and that is to sell the body parts of frauds, thieves, crooks and bandits to the highest bidder and to pay the profits to the victims of the frauds and thievery.
