Often, people of that age make sensible decisions in this respect. My mom had cancer, was treated with chemo for a few years which undoubtedly prolonged her life, but her oncologist wanted to send her for radiation therapy.

She made the decision that she had lived a good life, if she could have another year or so without additional treatment, she'd rather just do that. And that last year was a great year for her.

When I talked about it with her doctor, he said to me, "You know, sometimes people just get tired". I think that was a very good way of putting it.

Seems to me that should have been your mom's decision. I suppose if she had said she likes to sit around and eat bon-bons all day and read, then her life would not been worth saving?

I don't like the idea of doctors deciding if life is worth living, but I DESPISE the idea of government deciding for us...
