Welcome to McMedicine! ............................................................. anyway you spin it, a PA or nurse practitioner doesn't have the education or the depth of knowledge of an M.D. , and that's going to be the future of medicine from here on out. they are even encouraging R.A.s for doing radiology procedures and nurse anesthesiologists have become commonplace in the surgical suites for a long time now. the next step might be in permitting medical students, P.A.s, or nurse practitioners to perform some of the basic surgeries including appendectomies and uncomplicated deliveries. then it goes without saying, that malpractice reform is just around the corner as a very high priority. you can't have less trained practitioners survive in the current medico-legal environment. if a nurse practitioner makes less than $100K, they aren't going to afford current malpractice premiums as they continue to rise for non M.D.s at this rate board certified physicians may only treat cash paying aristocrats, all others please see the school nurse. welcome to the new american medical system. it isn't going to be free. it isn't going to be quality. it isn't going to be a step in the right direction for most. it's going to be the new McDonalds of medicine. McD started w beef hamburgers and now serves fat disguised as meat. whatever is necessary to generate a profit at any cost. the same for american medicine. let's call it McMedicine, the future of america!
