Another way of putting that old saw is: It's not history that repeats itself, but human nature. Those of us who have a more chromosomal point of view. How boring, staid, one would think, the life of bankers would be. Not so. Rather new, get a hold of " The Lords of Finance ( The Bankers who Broke the World )." by Liaquat Ahamed. Talk about surreal lives: all full of egotism, OCD, jingoism, and other peculiarities I would not mention in this polite society. Book delineates the Geitner/Bernake types that ruled the flow of francs, marks, dollars and pounds. What was finagled in '29 and led to it wasn't the same , as we know, as ours, but ours pales in comparison. In hindsight, scary. L
