Not that far actually. My place is one quarter of a homestead (homesteads were 160 acres). Another couple owns 80 of it another 40. It's the last private property before you get to the wilderness. You can't actually live in the wilderness. Although, there are a very few places that are in the national forest which were grandfathered but none around here. The interesting thing about the county in which I am located is that only 8% of the land is private.
