Wavephore Newscast Introduces Intralinks; Integrates News & Internal
Information For Enterprise-Wide Business Intelligence

PR News Wire via Dow Jones

DALLAS, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- WavePhore Newscast, a division of WavePhore,
Inc. (Nasdaq: WAVO), the fastest growing provider of real-time, custom-filtered
business intelligence services for corporate-wide use, has introduced
Intralinks, the world's first automated linking of breaking business news with
related, intranet-stored competitive intelligence and market research. Newscast
Today is the only online service that offers total ease in creating and managing
the integration of external news and a company's internal, proprietary
information.

Intralinks are a feature of WavePhore Newscast's Web-based business
information service Newscast Today that gives users the immediate power to move
seamlessly from an article or report delivered online to the subscribing
company's internally stored research -- whether housed in databases, documents,
or spreadsheets -- on that subject. Articles and reports that contain
information (such as a competitor's name or a technological process)
automatically are embedded with a hyperlink to a related intranet site. The
hyperlinks are based on protocols of word associations customized by each
Newscast Today subscribing company.

In addition to Newscast Today, WavePhore Newscast also offers business
intelligence services configured directly into a company's intranet or extranet.
WavePhore Newscast employs both online and wireless communications to deliver
its services.

"The linking of external news with internal research represents a powerful
breakthrough for boosting a company's knowledge resources, and for helping
professionals react quickly to market changes," said WavePhore Newscast
President Peter White.

"Intralinks help our users see not just the content of current news, but also
its context," White said. "Intralinks are the cyber-age equivalent of an
executive seeing a story about a competitor in the morning newspaper and then
asking an assistant to gather all the competitive research files," said White.
"Except now we're giving that power to every executive and manager throughout a
company."

The newly unveiled Intralinks continue a series of information management and
data fusion innovations offered by WavePhore Newscast, whose two-year-old
Newscast Today service is now used by 160,000 corporate users worldwide. To
ensure that each Newscast Today user receives only an appropriate stream of
articles and reports, the service includes sophisticated profiling filters that
sift through each of the 60,000 articles, reports, transcripts, and financial
documents gathered each day from more than 3,000 newswires, newspapers, business
publications, broadcasters, financial data providers, government organizations,
and regulatory authorities.

Profiling and filtering highlights include:

* The profiling filters also analyze dialogue on hundreds of the Internet's
business-oriented Usenet newsgroups.

* The profiling filters work on different levels. Pre-packaged profiles
covering hundreds of business topics are available for each subscribing company.

* Corporate librarians and other information specialists can create
customized, unique profiles for the entire company, or just for specific
departments.

* All users, in addition, can activate easy-to-use tools to create their own
personalized information filters.

Newscast Today also offers automatic links to dynamically created dossiers on
more than one million publicly traded and privately owned U.S. companies.
Articles and reports containing a reference to one or more of those 1,000,000
companies automatically are embedded with a hyperlink to an up-to-date company
overview featuring news, company announcements, financial results, stock prices,
and other information.

An add-on feature of Newscast Today is Newscast Alert, a personalized alerting
service that utilizes push technology to deliver headlines of relevant articles
captured through the profiling filters.

DTOP and INDV merge.

Any thoughts on what this might affect WAVO, if at all? Earlier in the year I had heard WAVO-DBCC merger rumors but nothing recently. I wonder if the DTOP-INDV deal will spur the industry into more consolidation.
Dave

Desktop Data, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTOP) and Individual, Inc. (Nasdaq: INDV)
