ZAM, I think the 3 yr warranty is still on the p166 and p200. the heat in the p233 and p266 has lowered the warranty down to 1 yr. Cpq also has dealers doing free setups to make sure they get off to good start. The p233 is 1799 w/o monitor. a sony,nec monitor is 600. dvd rom on home pc's don't have allot of uses yet. there are allot of dvd home entertainment uses on movies. the dvd has uses in the corp. computer room..not much at home. that's why they aren't big sellers yet. You can make money in pcs. but the dealer margins on a sub 1000 pc is 10-14%. I think cpq makes that much too. give me an exact pc and I'll tell you exact margin. we agree , pcs make money..but on one $200k server that cpq sells a bunch of..they make alot of profit and the money on tandems is great. their gross margins were 60+% and now cpq will raise that with their great systems.
