Long ago and far away I met a man who had emigrated from Zimbabwe to South Africa. He said he could not take money out of the country in large amounts. What he did was buy property where he thought the value would hold. I have no idea what happened.

Similarly, I met two students leaving via JoBerg from Zimbabwe. They feared they would not be going back. As students they were able to take more than mere emigrants. I have no idea what happened to the them either.

It is my belief that the bond market will be the watchdog that insures we adjust to a sustainable course.

Again, commodity based investments should protect one from currency valuation issues. I have never bought commodities themselves - as I have simply used common stocks as proxies. Perhaps this old dog will have to learn a new trick.
