Dear Tobago Jack, The Philippine market looks interesting. Diversified Ayala Corp. has been around much more than a century. Philippinos speak better English than most Chinese and Indians. Also the islands have abundant geothermal energy supplies, probably the greatest such energy resources per capita in the world. Why not invest in Ayala? Well I hear that rich Chinese are frequently kidnapped in the Philippines to the point where Chinese families keep cash around to pay ransoms. That sounds terrible. Do you have any opinions about Ayala? Seeker of Truth

I expect the Paulson fund will not be able to get into and out of the smaller names. Almost anyone with 10k and a discount broker would be able duplicate their portfolio or create an equivalent. One way to add value would be to have geologists and mining engineers select companies with better properties and buy companies with one or two great properties. Many of these names have multiple properties, and well known properties, so it will be hard to add value.
