Well I have a few moments and it's about time I reminded you I'm still alive and kicking up here, about 1,000 miles north of Boogerville. Many of us diss this country ourselves. And consider it childish at best and definitely very poor form when someone in their own glass house is lobbing boulders at ours. There undoubtedly is much wrong with America. There certainly is much wrong with Canada. But...one of the great strengths of both countries is that we live freely enough to (a)recognize what is wrong, and (b) offer our opinions about what we think is wrong. You're right, though. It is in very bad form for an Auslander to criticize another's homeland, unless perhaps, said Auslander lives in Utopia. Frankly, I'm a bit too preoccupied with trying to fix my own corner of the world to worry about criticizing yours."They're all pieces of crap, Bob. Foreign and domestic. That's why we're here." A wise man said that. (And an equally wise one remembered it.)Anyway, about 76% of us on SI live in the US and about 15% live in Canada. Hmm. I'm intrigued it's that high. Maybe it's the long winter nights up here? Most Canadians it's been my pleasure to have met would probably roll their eyes at seeing you go on and on publicly about just how thoroughly you detest this country as if it alone of all countries has no redeeming values. It's just bad form to keep yelling at the warlords to the south that they're nothing more than, well, a bunch of warlords to the south rather than keeping that among the many epithets used behind our backs. Consider the eyes suitably rolled. It's one of the (perhaps many) negative attributes of the stereotypical Canuck: eager to bash Americans, yet super sensitive to criticism from the south. Strange? Yes, it is. But enough. I hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas and will have a rewarding New Year. 2010 already! Who'da thunk it? Regards, Will
