Duane: <OFF TOPIC>

At the risk of imposing I would like to ask for your opinion. I am invested in ASND 2000 shares with an average share price of around $40.My investment strategy has always been based on long term investing and I really do not care about the short term fluctuations. But ASND has increasingly come to have a huge problem and it is management credebility. When I bought ASND I did an extensive reasearch on the company and came to the conclusion that ASND has great prospects based on their balance sheet, and their share of the market (at the time) and most important of all the management. I am a bit upset (actually very upset) at how they hyped the prospects of the company only a few short months ago, then I found out the insider sellings that has taken place, and now they have come out and basically have said (not exactly in these words of course but the general idea is): "well, we are growing but not as much as we were hyping and saying it publically"!

Investment is indeed very emotion driven and I tend as much as I can ignore all the short term emotions in deciding when to buy or to sell. However I am at the point of dumping all my ASND shares at $26 and some change (the 52 week low!), and bite the 28-29K loss as a tax write off for this year. In your opinion, which I do respect a lot, do you think ASND continues to have a strong fundamental and great prospecst (despite the credebility issues with the management and their insider sellings!)! I really hate selling but I no longer believe in the management which takes away my belief of the company's fundamentals. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Addi Jamshidi

" LSI Logic, S3, SGS-THOMSON, and Trident Microsystems elect Innovative Semiconductors' VIP Cores "

November 3, 1997

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1997--Four
leaders of the multimedia semiconductor industry have selected VIP (Video
Interface Port) cores developed by Innovative Semiconductors, Inc. in the
development of their video controller devices.

Innovative, a leading supplier of high-performance communications and video
Intellectual Property cores, announced today that LSI Logic, S3,
SGS-THOMSON, and Trident Microsystems are among the companies that
have specified Innovative's VIP cores to develop video controller chips.
Innovative was the first company to develop and market VIP cores, which
enable semiconductor designers to dramatically cut development costs and
time-to-market.

VIP is a Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) standard. VIP is
an open standard which specifies the interface between graphics controllers
and video devices such as DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) and Video Decoders.
Microsoft endorsed VIP in its recently released PC98 Guidelines. VIP-based
chips will be incorporated in products such as DVD systems in PCs.

Market analyst Dataquest predicts that DVD drives installed in desktop
computers will be a market worth more than $4 billion by the Year 2000 --
not including DVD players intended for home entertainment purposes, which
will also incorporate VIP controller devices.

"A year ago, we recognized that VIP would become a dominant industry
standard," said Nabil Takla, president of Innovative. "We were the first in the
world to develop and license VIP cores. I am excited that our partners
recognize our leadership in their selection of our products."

Innovative offers two VIP Intellectual Property (IP) cores: the SL15, VIP
Master, and the SL10, VIP Slave. As with any open standard, compatibility is
crucial, and these synthesizable cores are fully compliant with the VESA VIP
1.1 Standard.

Offering both the master and the slave cores significantly reduces the
compatibility concern, and provides a complete suite of design and verification
tools for any VIP implementation. In addition, Innovative offers consulting
services to support specific customer requirements. LSI Logic

LSI Logic Corporation, a leading supplier of custom high-performance
semiconductors, uses Innovative VIP cores in DVD devices for the PC
platform. "Innovative Semiconductors' products and services helped LSI
Logic produce the industry's first VIP DVD decoder solution in record time.
The VIP standard is an important part of LSI's DVD product offerings,"
commented Naresh Baliga, Director of DVD PC marketing at LSI Logic. S3
Inc.

"Working with Innovative Semiconductors, S3 intends to produce the world's
first VESA VIP-compliant graphics chip," said Wayne Tong, video product
marketing manager for S3, Inc., the world's largest supplier of multimedia
acceleration hardware and associated software. "S3's commitment to VIP
enables our products to interface gluelessly to a wide range of low-cost high
performance video devices." SGS-THOMSON

SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics is a global independent semiconductor
company that offers a broad range of semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs)
and discrete devices, including multimedia chips. SGS-THOMSON selected
VIP to address the growing industry need for a low-cost open video
architecture standard. According to Chris Mulvanny, U.S. Computer Business
Unit Director at SGS-THOMSON, "Innovative helps us achieve our objective
by significantly lowering the barriers in design, verification, and compatibility."
Trident Microsystems

According to Maria Tseng, director of Business Development at Trident
Microsystems, Innovative's VIP Master Core will help Trident address the
demand for a higher performance open standard. "The partnership will further
enhance our ability to offer excellent video capture and MPEG decode
features at consumer prices," Tseng said. Trident Microsystems, Inc., designs,
develops and markets graphics controllers and multimedia integrated circuits
for PCs

the Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard and Video Compression standards.

The company is a member of the 1394 Trade Association, VESA, VSI, Rapid
