That's true. Bush won fair and square under the laws applicable at that time. I agree with that, and ironically, I was thankful for those laws at that time, since I voted for him.

However, I've come to view it a bit differently now in retrospect. I honestly believe the system did not work to put in the White House the man the people intended to be elected, as evidenced by the popular vote and as evidenced by the massive lawyering that Bush had to do to secure Florida.

When the lawyers get involved, you can bet that someone is getting screwed. I know. My family is full of lawyers and the outcome is usually not the fair one, but as you'd expect, the outcome is dependent on who has spent the most money to win.

So what I'm saying is that if our system does not work to implement the will of the people, then it is broken and it needs to be fixed.
