They do not use their airports to get around their country like we do. If the US were to enact the same intensive security policies, we would have airport gridlock. It would be totally unworkable. The point is we waste a lot of time and energy on people who don't pose a threat and in the end, don't do what is necessary to find those who do. I understand what you are saying but you can't profile in a country as diverse as the US. We have to get full body scanners in place and restrict the movement of most people who show up on our lists. We have to do like you suggest......weed out people with a one way ticket and no luggage. But profiling just won't fly.....there are too many non Muslims who look Semitic and Arabic. That would include many Israelis. There would be chaos at the airports....not to mention all the lawsuits.
