Without delving into the details of Iraq's oil, the reserves are huge so there's no reason for them to not quadruple their oil production if they wish to do so and can achieve it politically [avoid Islamic Jihad or Iranians or somebody destroying the pipelines as fast as they are built].

A 30mph ground speed limit seems a bad idea to me, but he made some points that are superficially appealing.

A much better idea is congestion tolls to ensure traffic is always flowing at top speed and automated vehicle movement [no large primates in charge of vehicles with their drunk behaviour, lack of concentration, reaction times measure in seconds rather than microseconds, and general lack of ability and intelligence.

At $80 a barrel, a lot of places have a lot of incentive to increase production, and the ability to do so. It's the same with gold at $1100 an ounce - people will dig gold with more enthusiasm [though no more economic utility] than Easter Islanders dug Moais to ring the island.

"naive on energy policies"

Perhaps. I have often asked him how do I drive my MT900 around at 200mph if all the roads are speed limited to 50MPH and he chuckles. I think a speed cap could help with fuel consumption. If gas were at 5+ dollars a gallon, do you think there would be more political will for that solution?

He is personal friends with Mike Masters - he went to washington and got a lot of politicians to help try and break the speculators backs in oil and other things. Mosler has told me he doesn't think Mike Masters can pull that off again, it was a one trick pony.

Also he talks about that refinery they have down in the USVI often. I told him I think alaska should succeed from the union, seize the old fields and keep thier oil for themselves (after I become a citizen there of course), he didn't want to discuss it. I remember some folks saying McCain was a real idiot putting Palin in the running, but if you are threatening the black gold flow, perhaps things make more sense.

Regarding IRAQ changing the game, he has frequently stated on his blog the sauds are the price setters and are letting production adjust to the price they want. He needs lots of fuel for his supercars and superboats so I imagine he keeps up with such things.

I tried to get him to talk about oil matters relating to engines and fuel consumption and such in the car races his mt900's and ferarris and such race in and coming changes and he was mum.
