Yep. Happened to us. We bought an HDMI cable for around $40 dollars at Best Buy; then discovered the TV box didn't include one (though we had been told it would). Tripped down to a Target and got one for $20. At some point I'll swap them around to see if that difference matters or not. But I suspect you are right.
