Yet, the only conceivable means of becoming energy independent in the US, other than the very, very long term, would mean drilling offshore and/or in ANWR.


Those are not the only conceivable means.

And you oppose both of those.

I oppose drilling in the ANWR, not offshorse.

Yeah, eat all our non-renewable resources. Good long term (R)-type plan! A much BETTER plan is to buy foreign resources, while keeping ours safely in the ground, where they become more valuable by the year.
