Scott, You are great! how is coms positioned in this field and does AMTL have any change?

You see, I am long COMS, and was considering AMTL as an expeculative play to profit from the ASDL potential. However, if AMTL is a dead duck I would just add to my COMS position [which I was considering to do anyways considering the current low price]. Also, is anyone else ahead of the game vis-a-vis COMS?

Pancho

More.... what do yuo think about Cisco. I know they are the leaders but COMS was my first networking stock and I did so well with it that I fell in law so even though people tell me you also have to own Cisco, so far I don't (have not even tried to study the company so far)

We (GTE) put 1,000 Microsoft employees on ADSL trials in WA. The trial is over and no one will give up their ADSL. Now we are adding another 1,000 Microsoft users. Where are the Cable Modems???

Scott, that's great your company is working on ADSL. I'm not sure I understand your question about Cable modems. Cable is currently available in many areas and at attractive prices. I previously mentioned in a post that ADSL will make a larger impact in companies because are wired with copper and not cable. Cable is currently quite a bit ahead of DSL and this is common knowledge. The US West news was positive news for DSL in their region, and PacBell is gearing up but one of the biggest problems for DSL will be keeping it at an attractive price. US West will be pricing it cheaper than their ISDN service so this is a move in the right direction.

Scott, could you provide some information on where your company is deploying DSL? I'm aware that Washington state is US West territory.
They plan on offering DSL there next year, how will you compete with them since they "own" the copper going into homes?

Regards,
Derek

COMS versus Cisco: Scott can you and/or any one else qualified present a short and objective competitive assessment of this two companies. Currently I am very long COMS but have no Cisco (and no plans of buying) and sometimes I feel like I may have had the bad luck of falling in love with the #2 company. Should I also hold Cisco?

Your input I am sure will be greatly appreciated by many.
